From Eindhoven, Red flight with myself leading, conducted a escort mission for allied B-25’s to the Bochum industrial area. Shortly after crossing the bombline we came into contact with 109’s and 190’s. While engaging, Skipper sustained damage from a 190 that I turned into pursuit of and damaged heavily with the pilot bailing out. Skipper having to RTB left Zach and I alone to fend of the hun. In a lull during the combat, Zach and I were attempting to regroup when a 109 landed hits on Zach’s bird which sent him into a spin towards the ground. Unrecoverable, Zach managed to bail out just south east of Borken. Skipper and I managed to both RTB successfully. | ||
