B flight had taken off from Y-54 for an offensive patrol with myself leading overhead the Rhine river between Koblenz and Unkel. While overhead Koblenz, the flight was engaged by a 109 which I made quick work of, giving him a short concentrated burst of .50 and 20mm. Shortly thereafter, a 190 was attacking a allied bridgehead but he was swiftly brought down by Zach. We continued on our sweep when I was engaged by a 109 which was quickly shot down by Zach over Koblenz. Shortly after, we spotted a bogie which had yet been identified when Zach in an effort to ID the bogie was engaged head on with what turned out to be a 109 and lost control of his aircraft but bailed out over friendly lines after regaining control briefly. I made sure to destroy the 109 that shot down Zach. On return to base, I engaged a 109 over Strassfeld airfield and shot it down. | ||
