B Flight tasked with a defensive mission over Venlo. F/Lt 'Riksen' Richards as 'BUMPER leader', myself as 'BUMPER-2', F/O 'Mac' Steele as 'BUMPER-3' and P/O 'Al' A. Lamothe as 'BUMPER-4', along with another element of two Tempest A/C as BUMPER-5 and 6, took off from Ophoven again and made for Venlo. Just south-west of the objective we engaged the hun - and at one point a Fw 190 got on my 6 without my knowledge and F/O 'Mac' Steele shot him off! Shortly after F/Lt 'Riksen' Richards ordered my in to an Me 109 and I was able to get a few squirts of 20mm and .50 Cal as well into his plane. We confirmed it as a kill. Afterwards we regrouped and RTB'd back at Ophoven with all planes in tact. | ||
