I was flying as No. 2 in a section lead by F/Lt 'Riksen' Richards. I assisted my leader in several engagements near Lippstadt. F/Lt 'Riksen' Richards shot down one bandit, identified as a Me 109. While heading west towards the frontline we spotted a Fw 190 flying near ground level towards Werl. F/Lt 'Riksen' Richards provided cover, while I descended and pressed on with the attack. The bandit carried a fuselage bomb and made no evasive maneouvres while I was closing. At 250 yards opened fire with all guns from dead six. After a short burst the target exploded leaving only burning debris. We reformed and savely returned to Wesel airfield. | ||
