General Report | ||
I was No. 3 in a three-ship section. Over the assigned patrol area No. 1 reported a low flying Bf 110. He ordered No. 2 and me to attack, while he would provide top-cover. I dived and full throttle and was slightly ahead of No. 2. I opened fire from behind at 250 yards and scored a few hits on the fuselage. The Bf 110 crashed into the ground. We reformed to return to our airfield. On our way back No. 2 was bounced by a Bf 109 from high altitude. Our formation scattered and we tried to gain altitude to defend ourselves. Unfortunately the 109 managed to make several attacks on No. 1 and eventually managed score some fatal hits. No. 1 reported being hit over R/T, but I didn't see what happend afterwards. Meanwhile, No. 2 scored some hits on the Bf 109 in a head-on pass. Shortly after the engine of the Bf 109 was dead and the pilot bailed. I then reformed with No. 2 and we returned to our base. | ||
